Hubei's first gold winner in Tokyo

Wang Zongyuan and his partner Xie Siyi withstood the challenge from a US duo to win the men's synchronised 3m springboard gold on July 28. This is China's 11th gold medal, and the first gold medal won by Hubei athletes in the Tokyo Olympics. Wang, 19, is from Xiangyang, Hubei province. This is his first time to participate in the Olympic Games. Previously, he had only participated in one world competition, the 2019 FINA World Championships, and made a perfect debut by grabbing the men's 1m springboard title.

7月28日下午，东京奥运会跳水男子双人3米板决赛，湖北选手王宗源搭档谢思埸夺得中国第11块金牌，这也是湖北选手在本届奥运会中获得的首块金牌。19岁的王宗源是湖北襄阳人，这是他第一次参加奥运会。此前，他只参加过一次世界大赛，2019年跳水世界锦标赛男子单人1米板，并一举夺魁。

Wuhan Fitness Games kicks off

武汉全民健身运动会正式启动

On July 24, the launch ceremony of the Wuhan Fitness Games 2021 and the 3rd Paddleboarding Competition was held at the Yuehu Scenic Area, with nearly 200 paddleboarders from 31 clubs in Wuhan and neighboring cities participating. In the next six months, locals will also enjoy sports in more than 30 competitions and a series of experiential activities.

7月24日，2021武汉全民健身运动会启动式暨第三届桨板公开赛在月湖风景区举行，来自武汉及周边城市的31家桨板俱乐部近200名桨板高手参与。接下来近半年时间内，武汉市民还将在30余项比赛和系列体验活动中享受运动健身之乐。

Jianghan Road selected as national demonstration pedestrian street

江汉路，全国示范！

On July 26, the Ministry of Commerce announced the list of the second batch of national demonstration pedestrian streets. Six roads were included, namely Wuhan's Jianghan Road, Beijing's Wangfujing Street, Tianjin's Jinjie Street, Shanghai's Nanjing Road, Shenyang's Zhongjie Street and Guangzhou's Beijing Road.

7月26日，商务部公布第二批全国示范步行街名单，武汉江汉路、北京王府井、天津金街、上海南京路、沈阳中街、广州北京路这6条步行街被确认为第二批“全国示范步行街”。

Wuhan to build 25 int'l communities

武汉将创建25个国际化社区

Striving to become one of China's hubs for international exchange, Wuhan recently decided to develop 25 international communities as a pilot project within the year. The international communities will be designed to resemble their overseas counterparts in function and architecture, with schools, hospitals, gymnasiums, and bars located in them. Supermarkets with imported products and direct-sale duty-free stores will also be introduced. Signs in key public areas of these communities will be translated into multiple languages.

武汉正在加快打造国际交往中心。年内，武汉将在全市创建25个国际化社区试点。据介绍，国际化社区力求打造类海外生活场景，建筑风貌体现国别风情，加入国际教育、医疗、运动健身、酒吧餐吧等元素和项目。引入进口商品超市、免税品直营店，在社区楼宇、学校、居民小区等场所设施和重点区域，设置双语或多语标识。

Air quality continues to improve in H1

According to information released by the Wuhan Ecological Environment Bureau on July 27, the number of good air quality days in Wuhan in the first half (H1) of the year totaled 148. The analysis of the bureau shows the city's air quality in the first half of this year is the best in the same period over the last eight years, except for 2020.

7月27日，从市生态环境局获悉，今年上半年，我市空气优良天数为148天。据市生态环境局分析，今年上半年我市空气质量是除2020年外，近8年上半年空气最好的年份。
